To make the transition smoother, the Health Policy department is offering a mini-seminar, “ICD9 Transition to ICD 10 Diagnostic Coding” on Tuesday, September 28, from 9:30-10:20am in Room 252 (Boston Convention Center). The moderator for the mini-seminar is coding expert Rhonda Buckholtz, CPC, CPMA, CENTC. For more information, contact Healthpolicy@entnet.org

Consequently, in response to these advocacy efforts CMS has decided to postpone the implementation date for the HIPPA 5010-compliance date to January 1, 2012 and defer the ICD-10 adoption date to October 1, 2013.
CMS recently concluded a one-year project with AHIMA to identify and assess the business processes, systems and operations under CMS' direct responsibility that would potentially be affected by a transition to the ICD-10 code set.
